Seasonal Vector Technician with County of Ventura

As a Seasonal Vector Technician with the County of Ventura, I conducted field operations to monitor and control mosquito populations across the county. My responsibilities included identifying mosquito breeding sources and stages of the mosquito life cycle, determining appropriate pesticide types and application rates, and collecting samples of adult mosquitoes and other indicator organisms to assess control effectiveness and disease presence. I responded to public complaints, conducted site investigations, and input field data into the vector control database. Additionally, I provided information and education to the public about monitoring and control activities, laws, and safety protocols. Fieldwork involved lifting and carrying equipment up to 40 pounds in a variety of weather conditions and terrains, giving me extensive experience in hands-on vector control operations and public service.
