Welcome!

Hi! My name is Barbara Kim. I’m an aspiring park ranger and outdoor field professional with a love for wildlife conservation and helping people connect with nature. Growing up in Ventura, California, I spent a lot of time exploring local ecosystems, which inspired me to turn my passion for the outdoors into a career. I’m currently studying Environmental Science and Resource Management with an Earth emphasis and minoring in Biology at California State University Channel Islands, where I focus on getting hands-on conservation, habitat restoration, and wildlife management experiences.

I enjoy fieldwork that gets me outside and moving-whether it’s digging, planting, monitoring ecosystem, removing invasive species, or using GIS and drones to map habitats. It’s rewarding to see my efforts contribute in protecting and restoring these habitats. My goal is to work in state or federal parks, contributing to the stewardship of natural resources while learning and collaborating with others who care about the environment as much as I do.

Here’s a look at some of the hands-on research and fieldwork I’ve been involved in!

  • Roadrunner Capstone Project (Ongoing)
Assisted with Researcher at Sequoia National Park
Seasonal work with County of Ventura RMH Vector Control
Maui Student Service and Learning Class
  • Internship with Santa Monica Mountain Recreational Area
