I participated in a three-day hands-on ecological research project in the Sequoia National Park with a university-led. We measured canopy density using a densitometer and examined sequoia saplings for mycorrhizal associations by collecting and analyzing soil samples. Along the way, we identified various Southern Sierra Nevada plants during hikes to our field sites. I assisted with campsite logistics, meal preparation, wildlife safety protocols while conducting fieldwork on trails at high elevation, gaining practical experience in real-world field research
